Greetings,
I'm Jerry. The second owner of a 1978 F250 Camper Special. I'm just starting to restore the truck and seriously thinking about making it a dually. I know Ford didn't offer that option on a fleet side truck. Does anyone have any ideas as to where i can find a good quality set of flares?

Im in the same boat as you Jerry. Arrowcraft made a set of fenders that I really liked, but they stopped producing them a few years ago. I may put the 80s dually fenders on mine if i cant find the Arrowcrafts.

The 80's fenders look dam good when you cut enough out of em, they look a little out of place if they are left too wide..

And welcome aboard!

Welcome to FTE Jerry, how serious are you about your idea for making it a dually. The reason I ask is that the camper special has the 37" wide frame and duallies are based on the 34" wide frame, not insurmountable a problem but the most frustrating one to find out by accident. I've got both a 1 ton 78 and a 75 camper special, if your serious about the build or want to know what the differences in measurements are just ask and I'll take them. The may be a difference in leaf spring width, 2.5" v 3". The main problem is inside tire clearance, which just means that you can't run big fat tires, but duallies start with 30" of rubber in back so 15" of rubber on each side should be enough. The tires don't stick to much so you don't really need big azzed dumbo the elephant sized flares. 4" is about how far the tires stick out if that much. Can take an off the frame measure, reduce it and give you the off frame to outside tire measure for the CS. If you do the swap, look for a 8th generation 1 ton as a parts truck as they have lots of goodies you'll want, especially the Sterling axle. Theres a few of us on this site playing with 6 wheelers so check the threads.

Wow your fast JD, where were you when I started typing
