Tourism (Black Hills) and agriculture are big here. No state income tax, and Many types of manufacturing facilities here in state. With a state population at approx 700k it's easy to feel un-crowded. If youre into 4x4'n, a 20 mile drive in any direction with provide any terrain you can think of.
Alot of people here complain that the income here is too low, but they tend to forget that the cost of living here is one of the lowest in the nation. 150k-200k will buy a nice hobby farm with full building sites, east of the Misouri river, with a 20-30 mile drive to any place that has all you'll ever need (hospital, walmart, etc.).
I've been to South Dakota; does that count. Even saw the East side and wouldn't pay more then about $2 for any land I saw there.
I bet there weren't very many from Montana either.
Aaron.

Don't you guys know that Montana is just western South Dakota, only with more snow?:-X12 Or you could say that it's the part S D didn't want........
My daughter and son in law lived in South Dakota. They recently moved back to Montana. I visited and enjoyed SD, especially around Custer and Rapid City. I plan to retire in that area of the country. I have lived all over the world these last 50 years and I think Montana/Idaho/South Dakota is a really nice part of this wonderful country. Lots of room to move around, people are friendly and dont care if "your not from around here are you". Rust free 40 year old Ford trucks and lots of them.

Nice truck - I clicked on your gallery and was surprised to find out we're neighbors! Well sorta, I live over in the west valley area. Fire me a note at mtflat(No Email Addresses In Posts!) and I'll buy you a cup of coffee. If you check out my pics you'll see my 'finished' shot is in front of the Conrad complex ball field.
I'm in your neighbor state to the south, only about 30 minutes from the border, if that counts any. There's not a great number of Nebraskans here either, epecially from the western half.
