newbie here. I have read information until I'm confused. Trying to bring a 84 f250 351w back to life. I have acquired a Holley 500cfm 2 barrel that has a ported vacuum, a DSII ignition and had it checked, I have ignition wiring from an 82 Bronco and a 78 F150. The 78 has the extra plug that goes to something mounted on right valve cover (barometric pressure maybe). Both only have 2 wires going to distributor plug. I have been looking for a distributor but all seem to have a rounder shaped plug with 3 wires. Even ones with same year and engine, how come? I've scoured all the salvage and pull it yards. What is a good, not too expensive aftermarket distributor and coil that will work with DSII? There are no more emissions except pcv.
Duraspark 2 distributors have three wires.
Black for ground, orange and purple to the pickup coil.
Your '78 harness is likely ds 1 or 3 with a MAP sensor.
Don't know what to say about the '82 bronco.
I use a Standard Automotive Products DS-II replacement coil.
If just you buy a remanufactured distributor be sure it is for the correct engine.
Any auto parts store should have one for about $70
I pulled a DSII ignition box out of each one of them, both with Blue tabs. Only the 78 box worked. The 78 wiring had a 460 and Bronco 351 You are correct on the wires, I was looking at wrong plug.
