what if any would be beneficial adding msn parts to a 1992 bronco351w-----distributor, coil ,msd6a and i think i need the rpm adapter, along with the harness.(more torque)( more horsies), truck has a superchip with accel wires and a kand n fipk is this worth the expense 520$$- all feed back would be appreciated mpg is around 15 now---what can i look for adding these things thanks tr
Does your distributor use the magnetic pickup? If so, you can use it with the MSD box. I think the MSD distributor is probably better but have not used one.
i to have a bronco and have added a coil and plug wires it made a difference next thing is a msd offroad box since i like to play in the mud/water have heard the msd6 boxes dont like that stuff
MSD makes 50 state legal distributors for the 351W as well as the 302. I'm not sure about the one for the 351, but the one for the 302 has one version with the TFI module on the distributor, and one for remote mount TFI. I think the 351 distributor is the same way, but I'll check in the catalog and see when I go home this weekend. MSD distributor should be much more accurate than the stock distributor. You can get a 6 series box and use a harness to plug in between the coil and the wiring harness from the factory and plug the box into that. Also get a replacement TFI coil to handle the multiple sparks and increased power, as well as some quality spark plugs and wires.
If you think the a K&N filter made a difference, just wait until you bolt on the MSD system. K&N's are worth about 1/2 HP @ 10,000 RPM, the MSD system will be with you all the time. I have both the Pro-Billet distributor, and the 6A box, and I love them both. It's easy to bolt on, and both the distributor and the box made a very noticable difference, not the self-convinced mythological power that people tell themselves when they put on a K&N air filter. You will pick up at least 1 MPG, and it will start quicker, and be more reliable with that system. One word of warning, the Accel wires that you have will be inadequate for handling the power of the MSD. You'll need to get Ford Motorsport 9mm wires. They have their limits too, but those accel wires are not even as good as stock replacement ones. I've had more than one set, they're junk. They might work if you keep the plug gap at .035" or less, but you'll want to open your gap up to about .050" with the MSD, because that's where the extra power of that ignition system will really shine. I'd say it's the best true bolt-on that I've ever done, and I've just about tried them all. TK
i wish i could get a msd dist. but they dont make one for my motor (inline 6 ) called them when i could find one in there book i have thinking about swapping out my cap and rotor to msd brand also just for the heck of it .
