You just buy the tumbler assembly, up here (North) they are about $35 , you pull off the horn pad on the steering wheel , then pull the steering wheel (Yes, you have to use a puller) then there is a small silver button at the top right of the opening that you depress (switch in "run" position) and pull out the old silver thumb "thingy" the new on goes right in and you turn it to lock her in,,,,easy.

Wrong. no need to remove ANYTHING.
1 put key in ignition
2. insert pick into blank hole in column cover from the bottom(you will be pushing on silver detent)
3. Rotate key to run, while pushing on detent and pulling on cylinder
It will come right out
to install just insert key into new cylinder dab install and turn back to off. Install complete. Take less than 30 seconds
I recommend these. This way the door and ignition will have the same key like factory

o.k. ... i get it now. removal (and installation) is as simple as stated. what i was hoping for was a fix, but i see now that the thumb-turn portion is integral to the inner portion of the lock and that the slop is nothing more than advanced wear of the pot metal casting(s)... no fix possible.
Sorry Joey, didn't mean to make you work any harder than needed, I have 3 F350-F250's and none of them have this hole they were talking about, must be an automatic only or on newer than 1990's , sorry again pal.
