If I have not already done so, Welcome to FTE!! If you should consider purchasing a created long, or short block I bought an engine over 8 years ago and the engine is still running strong. The rebuilder is located out of Spokane Wa.. It was the best engine warranty I could find, 7 years warranty, or 70k miles, imagine came w/ disclaimer if self install?? Their website also has a listing of 'used' engines and their locations according to state and city. Delivered cast me around $1800, should be able to save a few $ if able to pick up?? If decide to go this route I can post the link to their website. Further, may want to do some research as to best year for a particular engine family in the appropriate engine forum??
352 B&S: 4.00" x 3.50" // 360 B&S: 4.05" x 3.50" / 390 B&S: 4.05" x 3.78."
360's only installed in 1968/76 F100/350's, but on sale day, 352/360's magically become 390's!
And be aware that prior to 1965, 352/390's were only installed in cars. These blocks have a different bolt pattern for the rubber insulators than 1965/76 FE engines.
Aw - too bad. Just sold my '67 with a very-very low mileage (1000 miles?) 352 (and a host of other goodies) all for $1500! He's my powder coating friend from Sequim and though I was actually wanting $2500 for it made this deal if I could get some PC done and his extra '63 Ranchero grille.
I still have all the old 352 core in various pieces laying around the house if you want to have one built. You can have all of my spare FE parts for free if you want them. I don't intend to use them, but also can't get myself to chuck stuff. The block has been outside for a while, and may be a little worse for wear. But I'm sure it's machinable still.
