bench seats

What is difference between 66 and 67 seat. Upholstery is different. Are the 67s base taller? Wanting to use a 67 type from vendor because of vinyl / velour mix, but it's listed as 67 /72. I'm thinkin seat bottom is thicker for 67. Mine may already have an 67 seat as it has the vinyl/velour upholstery in it currently. Any experience with this?

coybomber57 Welcome to and the Slicks Forum.

67-72 is a bumpside and the finish product may look different. They are basically the same size. I have a 76 seat in my 66.

I found that if you have armrests in a 61-66 and you use a newer seat you wont be able to lean the seat back forward without opening both doors as it will contact the arm rests. So the newer seat appears to be a tad wider.

Seem to recall 67-72 seats are wider but the tracks are the same as the 65-66. From 67-90's the seats are the same width; however, after 72 the seat tracks need to be swapped for the 65-66, thus, it's possible to mix and match bench seats with backs from 67 thru 90's, and possibly beyond?? I had a spare 67 bench but found it set too high and hard for my liking. I used the 67 bench and removed the padding, thus eliminating the need to swap tracks, and used components from bench and back of 40/20/40 87 Lariat. I removed the passenger side arm rest, figured he/she can hand their arm out the window if so desired.

Buzz You are correct, Should I want to do that I would have to open both doors. Lucky me I don't need to tilt the seat back forward very often.

1961/66 F100/1100 - 1963/69 N/NT/T500/1100 - 1967/69 F800/1000 bench seat tracks are the same, but...

1967/72 F100/750 bench seat tracks are different as are 1973/79 F100/880's. AFAIK, these tracks can be bolted to 1961/66 bench seats.

I seem to recall that 1980/96 bench seats are wider, and some people that install the split bench seats from these trucks discover that the 1961/66 armrests contact the seats.

Mr Wilson, Are the tracks different at the top? I am pretty certain they are the same at the bottom. The 76 seat in my 66 truck was a direct bolt in.
