I have a 65 ford f100 and the engine has a 352 stamped into the block. I know it is a fe engine but how can I tell if it is a 360 or 390 ? Do I have to go into it and mic the cylinders ?

FE blocks don't leave much for visual id. But there is one crude way to tell between a 360 @ a 390.Unplug the coil wire, rotate the engine to TDC, pull the No.1 plug, insert a small dowel rod into the engine until you hit the top of the piston,mark on the dowel a mark at, the valve cover,then rotate the engine to BDC slowly until the piston botoms out and last mark a second mark on the dowel using the same referance point on the valve cover. This will give you a general idea of the stroke, here are the strokes for FE's.
352@360=3.50/ 390=3,78/ 410=3.98. best of luck.

From what I have read in other posts about FE motors, many FE motors have 352 stamped in them, including 352's, 360's, and 390's. 67CAT's idea may be the easiest way to figure out what motor you have for sure, and it is true that if your motor is the stock one that is in your truck, it is a 352.
