Hi Folks, I am considering a remanufactured engine for my '66 F100. I ran across a company in Spokane, Washington that advertises remanned long block FE's with correct casting numbers for about $1300. They claim a 7 year or 70,000 mile warranty. They are RAE Company - division of S&S Engine Remanufacturing. Has anyone had experience with these guys. They will ship it for $175 and there is a $150 core charge. Or I can drive there (about 400 miles) and pick it up. They have an annual output of 5000 engines with a 90% satisfaction rate. This tells me that about 500 of those rebuilds have an issue or two. Steve
I would check with the gang in the FE engine forum on here. That said though, don't forget to ask for a 390 car motor, it will have more go than the truck 390.

Yes, not sure if they still do, purchased a 302 with S&S thru ebay. S&S had several listed according to year and type vehilce. Selected a 73 Torino 302 engine. The item was delivered to my door; however, when I checked the casting #'s I found it actually was a 289 out of a 68 vehicle. Needless to say somewhat upset but calmed down after reseaching and finding blocks where basically the same. When I talked to S&S sales rep before delivery, he provide the casting # for the heads, and engine cyl. tolerance, which were correct. That being said, it will be 2 yrs. 6/08, and I have no complaints. Took compression at the time of installation and all cyl. were at the high end of the required spec's. Intend tuneup within next few days and will be checking the compression again. So, suggest check into the history of the your engine. Suspect replacement may be a 352 block, I am not sure which years they were available. I have a 390 that came out of a 65 Thunderbird in my other 65 F100, finding a harmonic balancer for 65 engine can be difficult. Anyhow, found sales rep knowledgeable, he should be able to provide some info on replacement block. IMHO would want to know as much info as possible and would not accept engine at the highend of its tolerances, perhaps more knowledgeable member can advise. So far, both my 390 and 302 have been rebuilt and there is significant difference IMHO in the wear of either engine.
