I've had my truck for about 5 years now and its always had this problem and has finally gotten to me. The truck is a 96 F-250 Powerstroke. The windshield wipers only work on some settings and when I spray washer fluid they just stop and basically have to be reset. I guess there is also a relay near the glove box and every time the wipers cycle, it clicks, very LOUDLY . Just wanted to see if the clicking is normal and what might be a solution to the intermittent wiper issue. Thanks!
Its a control module instead of a relay, you have to remove the glovebox to get at it, I'm not sure of the exact location but you should be able to track it down by following the wire from the switch, its a small black box. Open it up and check the solder connections and board printing for cracks, and you may be able to repair it yourself if thats the problem. It definitely shouldn't be clicking loudly. Its not cheap for a new one ($70-120) but you can probably find a decent used one in the junkyard if you need to.
