my aftermarket core mounts are about 3/16 THINNER than the factory smashed ones that I took off . I would blame the aftermarket mounts

I am beginning to think this is the case because I can't find anything else that could be the problem.

and those were the ones that I got from DC of all places , my guess if accounting for the smashed condition of the ones I took out the new ones are probably about 1/4" thinner maybe a bit more .

Yeah, .25 seems to be the magic number; Chinese rubber must shrink. Got mine from LMC but they probably are all the same.
