When putting my '78 F150 back together after paint, I found that my fenders were too close to the doors towards the bottom. After reading some threads on here, I decided to replace my radiator core support bushings. I went the cheap route and am trying the hockey puck idea. My question is does anyone know if there is a "stock" distance between the bottom of the radiator core support and the frame. I didn't know if there was a set distance between the two from the factory or if you go by how the body lines look and just shim things up. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!
On my project ('73 F100 2WD) I've installed new core support mounts. The distance from the top of the frame rail to the bottom of the support is ~ 1.25". This is including three flat washers stacked on top of the top mount. These are included in the mount kit and are shown in the factory parts illustration. When it comes time to fit the front sheet metal (not there yet) I plan on doing what it takes to get the body lines to align and gaps to be even. Whether this involves adding/removing washers waits to be seen.
Thanks Mike! I actually had to add one more washer to the drivers side than I did on the passengers side. Got my gaps corrected between the doors and fenders.
