Got an original 65 core support put back on and it does not line up with the fender holes. The right fender is original to truck and has never been off, alignment with door is perfect. The support mounting kit is new. Will it need to have washers stacked under it to raise it up? Am I doing something wrong?
right vs left... are the fender holes at the same height as measured from the bottom of the core support? Are they the same height as measured from the frame?
I would say they should be the same height as measured from the frame. If they are the same height, I would then check the cab for equal height off the frame.. right vs left.
I'm assuming you have the truck level? Have you measured the front frame horns where the bumper attaches to see if they are the same height? Might have a twist. That really doesn't look that bad if this is the first trial fit. However if you've pulled, pushed, tugged till your blue in the face, then this doesn't look so good. A small shim here and there can make a huge difference. How much does it move when you put a jack under the front and raise it up? These frames flex A LOT when you jack them up.
If the problem exist on both sides, with fenders and doors aligned, rather than toss the existing replacement bushings you might want to try using spacers/washers between bolt head and rubber bushings to bring the radiator support to proper level. Purchased a set of radiator support bushing for the 65 many years ago and rather than purchase a set based on item description to specific year truck decided to go with generic replacement part that covered several years and was very disappointed. Ended up tossing.
Is that a repopped support or a new to you old sheet metal, I've heard of some fitment on the new ones don't know what part exactly.
Support is an original 65 from another truck. Truck is level on concrete. Looking at the schematic above I see that Ford had washers on top of the rubber. I went ahead and used two big washers under each side and everything is bolted up now. Just hope that does not throw something else out of whack.
It looks like you have plenty of thread to back off of the core mounting bolt. I would suggest loosening up those bolts, align the fenders to the core support, bolt them together, then tighten the core mount - both sides
Is the front of the core square with the cab?
Check that if it's off very far the hood won't fit good
I only hand tighten the bolts on the fenders until it's all squared up

What if there is a gap between frame and core support? My frame is not bent and measures an equal distance to floor on both sides. Cab mounts are in good shape. Has anyone used shims or washers under core support to adjust this gap? What type of bolts are used to bolt the fender to core support, cage nuts and bolts or bolt and nuts? Thanks for replies so far.
You have caged nuts in some locations fender/core
I would not shim the core untill you have more info on why it's off
The core supports the whole front clip hood fenders ect
One of my fenders was real tight to the door had to pry the fender to get door margin even
My front clip was off square from the cowl so the hood was off a little
All these are reasons to finger tight the nuts and bolts to check fit
Plus be dam careful of the paint!!!
