Agreed, Aaron. That should be against the law. How are you going to hear if someone else is blowing the horn at you? It's distracted driving, of nothing else.
I would consider going 4" straight out the back, if I knew it wasn't going to be too loud in the cab, but when I had my straight pipe dumped ahead of the rear wheel it was so obnoxious with the windows down that it was just about unbearable when you were towing something. The wife was not happy.... I'm sure that having out out the back helps, but I can't imagine the extra 3" of pipe makes that big a difference. It's just too much for my tastes.
It looked to me like it was pretty close, but then again a 4" is close too. I would think a small heat shield would help. Even If I have to adjust the position of the spare a little to make it fit, I will try. I just don't want it banging around in the bed, and I'm not going to rock the 80's vagabond look either.
Now that is just sick!
I think headphones on the driver is illegal, not sure though.

Honestly I was nervous when I installed it. I did a hodgepodge diy with a dodge used 4" tailpipe. I bought a dp and the tailpipe from a buddy that went 5" and some leftovers from my Cummins swap.
I have not had anybody complain.
Josh has it before tire..it IS louder that I would want. I very much would save the muffler money for something else.

Well, maybe you'll have to give me a ride in the 'ol dog at RRE then so I can see what it sounds like from inside. If it's not too noisy in the cab, I wouldn't mind going 4" straight. Especially since I don't DD the truck anymore and wake all the neighbors at 0630.
Besides, with the monster you're gonna have under the hood by then, I just want a ride!
I had the same thing as Nate. Straight pipe exiting in front of the rear tire, 4". UNBEARABLY loud pulling my trailer. My 4-5 inch dp hooked to 5 inch and a muffler exiting where its supposed to is SO MUCH NICER.
My spare is in the bed, I always have it there anyway. Seems it would be real tight to get under there with 5 inch.
You can have 5 in and still keep the spare tire under the truck, I have riffraff diamond eye ss 5 in. And my spare tire is still under there, no issues here, it is close but probably an inch or so away from both the tire and flap

Like you think I would say no?!?!
Any time! And you can see how you like the rsk and bilsteins too.

Do you have any pics? I am curios to see which hitch you have. And see the clearance
I sold these F'n stupid stacks today, so now I HAVE to put an exhaust on
It is close but with pipe that big it doesnt heat up enough to cause issues with the tire, i have towed with this system and havent seen any issues with it.
Its a diamond eye system with mbrp tip
I have the rear mount moved back on the exhaust, I had it moved back for mud flap clearance, so the factory location would have the pipe even further away from the spare tire I believe....
265 I believe, only had it out once to fill it up and install the hitch, I run B&W hitches, you might be able to clear a 285 with the rear exhaust hanger in the factory location, I'm not sure though.
