Yeah, I saw your post, I guess my point was that whether you're running 35s or just 215s, you're not going to be able to retain the spare with a 5", which sucks.

Ok, yeah I hear ya.. My experience has always been their a total PITA when their under the truck; keep in mind tho I live in Maine the land of the worst roads.. If i need bed space i just strap it up vertical.. Is there room for it in the bed on trucks w goose necks or 5ers?

The reason I can't do a 5" is I barely clear the 38 gallon rear tank with the 4".

Not that I'd ever go this route but i see guys doing a turn down just after the rear axle.. I like the semi factory look of a tailpipe..

ok, thanks. coreyallan01 did you have any issues with the down pipe hitting the 5 speed? Or the trans crossmember brace being in the way?

Brad, the truck already had a 3" SS downpipe installed so I didnt use the one that came with the Diamond Eye system. Keep in mind the 5" system comes with a 3" dp, from what Ive read and understood a 5" dp wont fit.. The current dp clears everything by a slim margin and there is no contact at the crossmember. I cant remember if the Diamond Eye dp is 2 piece but if it is and IF you think youll have a clearence issue @ the crossmember you can always trim the bottom of the upper piece of the dp to suck the whole unit up slightly..

Granted mine isn't stainless, but I put the 3" Diamond Eye DP on my truck with a ZF5 and it fits fine. I didn't have to trim it at all to get it to clear the 5 speed or the cross member. I would highly recommend using band clamps on the whole system, but especially on the DP in case you ever need to adjust or remove it for some reason. A lot of people don't think of that and just use the u-bolt clamps on it, and then you're SOL if you ever have to adjust or remove it.

I used a v-band. Sexy and very easily removed or adjusted :-)
I just love v-bands!!

Is there enough room in there for a V-band? It's such a tight fit in there, I wasn't sure there would be room enough to sneak a V-band in the DP. I suppose it would depend where you put it...

And again, not everyone has a elder suitable to install the v-bands, but just about anyone can install a band clamp! I do agree though, a v-band would be the way to go if you're able.

The way mine layed out with the trucks stock exhaust mounting location I had to use the clamps with the hangers in those places. I used ss bands on all the other joints. Given enough time i'll weld all the seams except for two and fab my own hangers. If your mounting the Diamond Eye w/out welding or fabbing then you will need to use a couple of the inferior u-bolts.. Maybe in truck confugurations that arent cclb 4x4 its different..

If I am reading Diamond Eye's description correctly the DP is a 2 piece 3" and then there is an adapter that bells to 5"

I am pretty sure I am going to go this route

And YES, band clamps all the way I throw those STUPID exhaust crushing u-bolt clamps in the scrap pile

My mbrp kit didn't come with the rubber hangers...and I had to buy like 6 of them from Napa...keep that in mind too.

Couldn't you have use band clamps for the actual joints, and then used u-bolts to hold the hangers, and just refrain from tightening the u-bolts to the point that they crush the pipe?

Iirc there was at least one spot if not two where the mount on the frame is in way of the joint on the pipe where i had to use the ubolt for the clamp/hanger combo. All other joints got stepped ss band clamps.
