I got the SS 4" from Clay at Riff Raff and love it, I had to trim one pipe and bend the seem. I have a ECSB with a zf5. I used stock hanger locations and used TRP 4" stainless clamps (local peterbilt or kenworth dealer). Unless you are building crazy power the 5" is kind of pointless, still allowing you to use your spare tire location.
Couldn't you have use band clamps for the actual joints, and then used u-bolts to hold the hangers, and just refrain from tightening the u-bolts to the point that they crush the pipe?

I would agree to a point. I don't think there is any performance to be gained by going to the 5" but I do like the sound better. The bigger pipe produces a deeper, more mellow tone that isn't as harsh, in my opinion. Most guys that go 5" go that route for the sound, not for the performance.

Yup, exactly! Thats why I went 5", the 4" is real blatty. Theres a guy in town who had a std cab 8' bed w a 4" and its so annoying; granted most of it is how he drives but just sayin...

"Blatty" that's the best way I've heard of describing it. 4" straight pipe just has too much "bark" to it for my taste. It sounds good, but the bark just wears on me and I think I'd get tired of it. I think I will have either a 4" with a muffler, or a 5" straight. The 5" kit is a lot more mellow and it just has a deeper rumble to it. 5" straight still sounds tough, but it doesn't "bark" the way a 4" does.
Yeah, I like the muffler on there too. It tones it down just enough to make it nice. That may be the way I go since I still want to keep the spare under the bed.
I noticed in that 3rd vid the guy has 5" and a spare. I wonder if it is just laying against the tire
It looked to me like it was pretty close, but then again a 4" is close too. I would think a small heat shield would help. Even If I have to adjust the position of the spare a little to make it fit, I will try. I just don't want it banging around in the bed, and I'm not going to rock the 80's vagabond look either.
