It sounds like you are trying to graft a new dash into an original EX, that may be uncharted territory or at least very rarely done. Most of these EX to late model "conversions" you see are actually SuperDuty trucks from the dash forward mated to older EX body shells, Two partial vehicles morphed into one.
I know. Funny, I had that "what if they made an SUV out of the F250 SD" moment until I came across that CABT site.. blew me away!
Then.. I saw the prices Needless to say it really was a "what if" moment until I saw a video where someone took an X and did a reverse conversion. They changed the front clip (now they have kits) rear bumper and changed the dash. The problem is I've only seen 3 people do it and they don't share how. Shipping my truck would cost me $2,400 round trip before they even started the conversion.
So I've been researching here and talking with the most interesting man alive (Google) to see if i could find info on the brackets, hinges and wiring to get it done. (Nope) They even changed the X steering wheel to the SD without changing the entire column.. argh!
The guy who sells the clips, as of yet.. will not sell just his custom brackets and hinges. You have to buy his complete basic kit which includes plastic black grill, hood, hinges, brackets, OEM headlights, fenders and front bumper.. $3,900.
If you want upgraded chrome grill, bumpers or after market head lights, you have to get them on your own.. (cheaper) and then try and resale the grill and lights you just bought to recoup your funds. Not flexible at all.
I sound like a whiner but I'm just looking to streamline this project as much as possible with the least amount of unnecessary spending.

Disagree, not whining at all in my book! I think this is more of a reason to keep people like us (people with the means to reverse engineer his brackets) from buying his kit.

Thanks bro.. I can agree with that! I luV how content is unselfishly shared here. Can't wait to start mine and post my results! I'm just gathering parts, lol!
So will the X door wiring work for the F250 power telescope/folding mirrors or will I need an F250 matching wiring harness?
Hey guys.. first time posting, long time trolling, I'm in the process of starting an '02 Excursion to '12+ Conversion project. I'm frustrated that folks have done it and keep the "how" a secret from other struggling enthusiasts..
But in any case I'm starting with the most difficult part first.. the dreaded dash! I know it's been done from 2008-2010 and 2011-2013+.. my question is how the h-e-double hockey sticks do you get this 'ish to work?
1. Do I need to marry both the stock and the new dash assembly wiring harness?
2. Does anyone know how to get the 2011+ dash to work in 2002-X 7.3L?
3. Does stock door wiring harness for 2002 X work with new 2010 F250 door panels? What about the tow mirrors?
I've been reading lots of threads but it seems like they die out without giving exact detail to follow. I may be mistaken and haven't found the rt thread so Jedi counsel, please advise this padawan.. thanks!
The ones that I have seen done with keeping original engine, was that they kept the original cluster and put the new dash over it. It actually looked like it almost belonged. I believe there is one on youtube. I'm sure if you kept the guts of yours you could get the new one to work with splicing some wires to extend them. The rear door panels are what confuses me. I would like to see how they are done, extended or all new.

This recent thread explains how to add the factory power fold/extend function controls to an EX door panel, be prepared for the dealer cost on these Ford only mirrors! Plenty of decently priced '08+ aftermarket mirrors around that are plug-and-play (Like mine) but none with the power fold/extend, that is only available on the Ford units. https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...ts-needed.html
