I'd imagine either a flat-plane bimetallic transition bar or some form of brazing aluminum or silver solder onto the surface of the steel prior to welding. The latter is extremely cost prohibitive on something the size of the Excursion rear clip and is primarily meant for sealing joints, not intended for strength or structural application. The transition bar's aren't exactly cheap either. The bars are how new ships are getting steel hulls and aluminum superstructures, one side gets welded to the hull and the other to the superstructure. Easy explanation for the bar: steel and aluminum are explosively bonded to one another in a pressurized and controlled environment. Amazingly cool technology and metallurgy, but I believe it may bring an end to CABT Excursion's...
Nobody caught that they sprayed over the Blue Oval on the barn door?
So I buy a new truck he has the excursion rear ends?
Correct. Check out the website-they have prices on the conversions with either you or them providing the truck. If I win the lottery--that's the FIRST thing I'm going to buy.(Don't tell my wife)

I know ******* really isn't that bad and you were just screw-ballin' around, but really it isn't allowed.
Hey guys.. first time posting, long time trolling, I'm in the process of starting an '02 Excursion to '12+ Conversion project. I'm frustrated that folks have done it and keep the "how" a secret from other struggling enthusiasts..
But in any case I'm starting with the most difficult part first.. the dreaded dash! I know it's been done from 2008-2010 and 2011-2013+.. my question is how the h-e-double hockey sticks do you get this 'ish to work?
1. Do I need to marry both the stock and the new dash assembly wiring harness?
2. Does anyone know how to get the 2011+ dash to work in 2002-X 7.3L?
3. Does stock door wiring harness for 2002 X work with new 2010 F250 door panels? What about the tow mirrors?
I've been reading lots of threads but it seems like they die out without giving exact detail to follow. I may be mistaken and haven't found the rt thread so Jedi counsel, please advise this padawan.. thanks!

Ok, I'm not sure on everything but the mirrors and that is just that they bolt on no issues. However, you have ONE post AND your location filled in so REPS SENT TO YOU!!!

Thanks for the reply.. I'm thread sleepy ... I saw how one post went from fun project.. to divorce.. then bitter divorce.. bk to fun project.. to completion and then to a conversion business like Tim. That was 2years in an hour, whew!
So the trailer tow mirrors are direct bolt on and wires fit rt in? All the dash installing gurus are in other states! Is there anyone in California who does, will do or has done excursion conversions... specifically the dash swap?
This is my journey.. when I get answers I will post results! Thanks Apocalypse
It sounds like you are trying to graft a new dash into an original EX, that may be uncharted territory or at least very rarely done. Most of these EX to late model "conversions" you see are actually SuperDuty trucks from the dash forward mated to older EX body shells, Two partial vehicles morphed into one.
