Oi vay...the hits just keep coming. So, the initial problem I thought was a fuel issue now seems to be a wiring issue somewhere. A week ago I'm driving the truck, everything's cool, the supposed "fuel issue" seems to have corrected itself. Truck dies on me, I pull into a nearby parking lot.
Attempt to start, batteries drain completely in an INSTANT. Now mind you one of these batteries is fairly new and the other had been recently recharged. Thinking it's the alternator, I finally took it today to get tested. Tested fine. I'm about to order some new battery cables because those are pretty rough, gonna replace though, anyone else got any ideas? Grounding issue possibly? As previously stated, I'm no good with electrical issues.
Alternator does not start the truck. If the voltmeter / ammeter (I don't know which one the bricknose has) is reading normal, you're most likely charging properly. But you can test for that with a meter easily enough.
"Mixed" batteries are always a caution. The weaker/older one will pull down the other. You need to LOAD test BOTH batteries independently. Also check all main battery wiring connections, esp. negative/ground connections. Ideally, you should get two new matched batteries.
It is possible to screw up hooking up the batteries. When I worked at J.B Hunt I was doing a battery swap on a tractor and screwed up and put the 4th and last battery in backwards. That post shot across the shop like nobody's business
In occasions when batteries are hooked up wrong way around, is common to find blown diodes in the voltage rectifier. (Device that converts ac output of alternator to dc power)
Ok so, got a new Positive Battery Cable. Went to get new Negative Battery Cables. NOBODY. And I mean NOBODY seems to have them. I'm still going website to website and emailing them to see if some might turn up but as far as auto parts stores go, forget about it, talked to every one of them here locally.
Trying to find a place that might be able to fab them for me as well. This truck has become nothing short of a pain in my @$$.
Edit: Found them on Rock Auto, just searched for a 94 F250 with 7.3 Non-Turbo instead. They popped right up. Huzzah, victory. Results to follow

Reason: Resolved issue
Check the gauge on those RockAuto cables. I got some on clearance there, supposedly for my IDI, and they were something like 2 or 4 gauge. OEM are at least 0 gauge. I, uh, didn't install them.
