My '11 Super Duty, the 7 pole trailer plug does not have right trailer turn. I have a signal at the 4 pole however. All breakers/fuses are good. I achieve a right trailer signal only when pulling tension towards the left side when plugged in. My dealer says the only way to remedy this (under warranty) is to remove the cab and replace the main harness. I'm not very keen on that! I was going to splice a new 7 pole socket instead. Thoughts? Thanks!
No way would I have the cab pulled for a ten buck socket. The 'innards' are held by a screw - loosen it, slide the connector portion out and check the screw terminal connections. If they are secure, no broken pieces and there is still no power to that RH signal then see if a replacement internal connector will fit that socket. If not, then do as you suggested and wire in new one.
On my 99 the trailer harness unplug from he main harness.
There is no set screws holding the harness into the plug socket.
Again it is very easy to remove and replace.
You will need one from the same vintage truck, as I found that ford changed the wires around somewhere around 03 or so.
Ford seems to change harnesses almost annually/analy.
Parts go obsolete, very fast.
Might have to try one of the obsolete parts dealers.
Look into whether the harness just unplugs, like the vans do, I replaced the harness on my '02 E-350, pretty easy job.
