I have a quick question for you I have an '81 bronco 351w edelbrock intake and edelbrock carb. I am having the worse troubles trying to get it to idle right. I have to have the idle mixture screws out about 5 turns before it idle descent. and at that point it is at 1500rpms. I have the pcv and the carbon canister t'ed together and plug into the front of the carb then I have the brake booster plugged into the back into the intake. I sprayed some starting fluid around the carb and in the back of the carb when I spray it it revs up I jsut bought the edelbrock egr kits and have new gaskets for the carb. I called edelbrock and they said the heat riser that goes between the egr plate and the carb might be bad.. what are your thoughts?

You have a leak at the rear, probably the gasket. Try replacing the gasket underneath the carb and see if that helps out any. The spot where the starter fluid increased the rpm is where it is leaking. I don't think the heat riser would have anything to do with it but I could be wrong.
