I'm about to get an egt gauge installed to measure my temps especially while I'm towing our fifth wheel. What temp should I expect? I think 1200 is the high limit what what is the "normal" range. What is the "danger zone" temp?
I have a cat delete but all other exhaust is stock.
I know search is my friend but either it, or I, am not being too friendly.
Stock tuning, stock exhaust I would expect to see 1200 to 1250 pulling grades, flat highway round 1000. Depends on the trailer weight. I think you can hit 1300 for a minute or two but would not let it go over 1350. My trailer is only 8000 lb, so I rarely see over 1250, it will shift down.
I've towed 10k with Matts tow tune 4" exhaust. Temps are the same as stock they just climb up faster. 60mph I see 620 degrees. 70mph about 700-720 all on level ground cruising.

Is that a canned tow tune, and is it safe for towing as heavy as you tow? Reason I ask is mine is totally stock, you are tuned, so you will want to watch the EGTs, boost, ECT and EOT. Do you have other monitoring capability?
