Exhaust temp higher than normal

My 97 f350 has been running alot hotter exhaust temp lately. Use to I could have my 28' horse trailer behind it it and only be running around 400 exhaust temp now i am running at about 500 to 600 with out a trailer I did and oilchange and fuel filter about 1000 miles ago and no change. I also noticed my fuel milage went down a from about 25ish miles to the gallon to 18 to 20 now.

Any ideas as to what could be causing it?

Thanks in advance.

If you were only running 400 with trailer in tow I am thinkin your gauge was bad. I normally run 600 at highway speeds towing nothing 8 to 9 pulling 5th wheel on highway

25mpg is pretty high too. unless you drive 55 everywhere.

Granted, I've got it, but I don't think you'll get it with stock sticks and a DP tuner.
