No pyro, but it's on my list to get this weekend (seeing as I run 4 trucks all with idi's)
I'm not seeing much smoke, other than a little blue on startup. It was hard to tell at WOT when test driving as the road conditions were the ****s, but I sure didn't see a black, white or blue cloud...
I must reiterate that my faith in the dealership is pretty much nil. They totally bombed what should have been a textbook brake job, so timing and fuel settings on this ip was likely beyond their skills. They probably bolted it on and set it so it would start and drive and that was it.
So, you folks figure more advance yet? That's certainly my gut feeling...
^^^^^ +1 on the brake job. That's beyond incompetence, it's bordering on criminal negligence.
They called 5 times threatening to take me to court when I stopped the visa payment...offered to cut the bill in half, then 3/4, but I stuck to my guns. They never took action = knew they were guilty. Unbelievable.
I got the middle finger from them. No apology or admitting of wrong-doing. All the same mechanics are still working there now, 2 years after.
Now, I'm no "pro" mechanic, but I've been wrenching for 30+ years and have a well equipped shop of my own. I do all my own repairs and maintenance on my fleet and can thank this forum for helping me through a few tough ones. I really had no choice but buy a few more tools and shop supplies to enable this, rather than keep throwing ridiculous money at a dealership that does that kind of work.
In a small town one would think the last thing they'd want was another business owner telling this tale of woe.
I sourced it through my friend at a CAT dealership. It's new, not a reman.
I just advanced the timing ahead what should have been a ridiculous amount and bazinga! She goes like stink. Must have had the pump off by a tooth. Funny it would run at all though....
oh man.they must of removed the gear cover instead of just the front inspection plate.well you should be able to fix that easy enough so the ip can be properly timed.
Well, good to hear you got it sorted. I did wonder, but most of the cases ive heard of being a tooth off went along with a rediculus amount of white smoke.
Well, it's the oldest of my fleet and a "Reviva" reman at that...many, many hard miles on this one, so it's likely got some "tolerance" issues...I'm going to load it down next week and try a few hills with it to see if it's as good as it feels empty.
Option #2 is drop a T444 and trans out of a bus in it...local school board is clearing them out and a couple are very low mileage. I know, I know...powerstroke
