Another transmission thread

So, the dyno runs killed the tranny. I have read for hours about JW and BTS. I cannot wait that long to get a transmission. My local shop that has always done amazing work recommended a Jasper transmission. They told me they have hundreds of these out in service trucks and have never had to warranty one.

I know everybody will say to get a JW or BTS. That is simply NOT an option. Reading about Jasper's, I see mixed reviews. Does anybody here actually have any experience with a Jasper transmission?

I have also read about the 4R100 HD but my local dealer doesnt seem to know what I am talking about. Where can these be purchased?

Thanks in advance.

Talking

This should help. Here is the HD 4R100 application chart and part numbers from Ford. https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/a...9&d=1388959460 Just minimize the note box to see all the numbers.

I have only heard bad things about Jasper transmissions. If the downtime is the only issue, have you tried calling Brian or John? They can sometimes expedite shipping of a trans in extreme circumstances. There are too many horror stories about remanned stockers (other than JW and BTS) for me to have felt comfortable going that route. My only three options were JW, BTS, and HD 4R100. You can see what I chose.

There are several here with the 4R100HD who seem very happy. I personally have little knowledge of the differences and life expectancies or applications of the other manufacturers/re-manufactures.

I know several who have had their units done by a local shop who orders all the HD parts and rebuilds them. They also seem very happy.

Talking with a few transmission technicians over the years and they all indicate the stock 4R100 is a solid unit.

I have and I would have gone that route had I done things properly. You know, save up and then order my tranny before I blew it. But I didnt, and I cant wait that long.

Ok, I bit the bullet. I just got off the phone with John at JW. We talked for a while and he said he could have a tranny delivered to me by next Friday. After reading about his transmissions until I was blue in the face I grabbed the old Visa and pulled the trigger before I changed my mind!

Thanks for all the input.

Will do.

I'm trying not to think about the money.......Trying to just be happy that I wont have to worry about the tranny blowing up somewhere other than at home!

If you plan to keep the truck for a while, you definitely made the right decision. I know it's expensive, but it'll pay for itself if you plan to continue making dyno runs, etc.

So I got a call from John's secretary tonight. John is burning the midnight oil and trying to get my transmission done tonight so he can ship it to me tomorrow!

You cant ask for better customer service than that!
