Slipping transmission
This is my first post, although this forum has been helpful as I added a 4" exhaust, AFE, triple guages, and Edge to my 2001 F250. At 95,xxx miles my transmission (4R100) starting slipping so badly I barely got it home. I have read the posts about "ultimate" trannys for $3500 -$4000. Too expensive for me. Does anyone have experience or opinions about the Ford reman. trans? My local dealer will install trans and converter for approximately $2600 with 36 month 36,000 mile warranty. Your opinions, pro or con are welcomed.

I'd ask the ford shop if they are going to warranty the tranny with your mods in place? That would be the big catch. Do some calling around, there is probably some one locally that knows the 4r100. I talked to several shops around, found one that was very helpful and knew about all the inherent problems of the 4r100. Was going to have them rebuild it to the tune of 2500 or so roughly. Then decided to do it myself. Case of point, do some researching to educate yourself on the inside of the tranny, then talk with local shops to see who actually knows the tranny and the familiar "BUILT" names such as BTS, Suncoast, ATS, etc.
