Pre pump filter

Is it ok to do a pre pump filter and no hutch mod? Is it too much filtration?

No it's not too much filtration. You just still have the risk of restricted flow from the clogged screens in the tank.

The reason for adding the filter after the hutch mod is to protect the fuel pump. Since you still have the screens in the tank from the factory, your fuel pump doesn't need any additional protection, but if it's what you want to do, go for it.

I deleted the screens in the tank, the tank is a terrible place to keep a serviceable item. I still needed some type of screen to protect the pump from debris, so....
