Bill
Or at least since the crud and deposits built up enough on the fine copper windings to bend it ever so slightly.

It sure doesn't take much to bend that contact now does it.

LOL
No, it sure doesn't take much. In fact, while I was doing it, I was VERY careful.

Now just to figure out why the AMP Gauge doesn't work. Never has.

Amp gauge should have a yellow and red wire going to it. Red goes to the + side of the solenoid relay with a 4 amp fuse in line. Yellow also has a 4 amp inline fuse just before it gets spliced to a fatter black wire. That fat black wire runs from your alternator to the + side of the solenoid.

the alternator gauge doesn't even move - even if I pull the connector out of the Voltage regulator

I replaced the cluster's voltage regulator to no avail

Any ideas?.

I guess I do not have permissions to post pictures.
Ford is a bit famous (over years) for providing amp gauges which move little or none irrespective of load and charging rate even though the charging system is working correctly. The only solution I have found is to replace the gauge. You can replace it with a Ford replacement part which will likely perform similarly. If you want some needle movement there is a fellow in Texas who can replace the gauge's movement with one that works. His work changes it to a voltmeter. You can retain the original face on the gauge, or he can provide an overlay which has a voltage scale. His work is good and reasonable in cost. I used his service a bit over a year ago and the gauge is still working well. The rebuilt gauge requires a little rewiring of the panel, but it is easy.

I'd rather have a voltage gauge anyway.
