Question Gauge Madness

I am having trouble with my gauges. my amp gauge reads dead in the middle, and doesn't move, even when the truck is turned off. The oil, temp, fuel gauges seems to move erratic. they will all started reading real high, or real low, and they move at the same time. My book shows a voltage regulator for the instrument, does anyone know where it would be, or has anyone had this problem to.

thanks

JS

The instrument regulator is mounted on the circuit board behind the instrument cluster. You have to take the dash cluster out to get to it. It looks like a little metal box with two studs coming out.

Don't be surprised if you never get your ammeter to work. They never did work very well brand new. An aftermarket voltage gauge would be best if you are worried about monitoring the charging circuit.
