2005 f350 transfluid
owners manuel says mercon sp can't find anywhere autozone' o'rielley's don't show anything on mercon sp and owners manuel say's it won't mix with anyother fluids any help would be a great help.

Assuming this is for a Torqshift automatic, Motorcraft Mercon SP and Motorcraft Mercon LV. After the time your owner's manual was printed, both fluids are specified by Ford and can be mixed. (with each other) Couldn't tell you what the difference is between the two is other than price.

Mercon LV is the Ford replacement for Mercon SP in the Torgueshift trans. O'Reillys does show SP as still available in their stores on their web site. They also have LV available, they are interchangeable and will mix with each other. If you can't find Motorcraft brand, be very careful that the fluid you use states Mercon SP or LV compatible.

Well I wish Motorcraft would update their web site because it says not to mix the two.

Here is an early communication on this subject from 2009 which is what we call a Special Service Message or SSM. This jives with the application chart. I have been using LV in place of SP since then, replacing and mixing without any concerns. Looks like an error on the product description to me.
