So I have a 1995 F-250 XLT extended cab, full bed...5.8L Gas 351 engine...
I've had it for about a year and I've finally decided to get my *** in gear and fix the power locks. Since I've had it, the drivers' side power locks do NOT unlock OR lock, but the Passengers' side WILL unlock BOTH doors but does NOT lock anything.
I tried changing out the driver's side switch from a 1992 Explorer that I have...and that switch works in the Explorer. I havent had time to put the switch from the F250 into the explorer yet.
Before I start buying new power lock switches... does this sound like it would be actuators or the switches?? Is there a way to test the switches or the actuators? My Haynes manual doesnt help at all...
I would have thought it was the switches since the passengers' side DOES unlock BOTH doors when you press it.
Thanks in advance! Patrick
Everytime I take my door panel off, my power lock button stops working I finally figured out that the black wire on the switch was loose. all I had to do was crimp the connector a bit and now it stays tight in it's place and haven't had an issue since
Hmm, I guess I should just start testing voltage at each point with a Multi-Meter. Mine is broken at the moment so I'll get a new one and start testing all the power points...or use a test light. Would the unlock switch button work if the actuators were broken? Mind you, the unlock button only works on the drivers side, but it DOES unlock both doors
When I had a problem with the passenger side not unlocking from the driver's side switch, I found one wire broken on the driver side wire bundle that goes from the door to the jamb.
