Power locks on 96 Explorer

I have a 96 Explorer with power lock switches on the driver and passenger side doors. The power lock on the driver's side door is no longer working properly. It will lock all doors, but will no longer unlock any doors at all (I have to reach over to the passenger door to use that power lock switch to unlock...what a pain). I was at a salvage yard today and noticed the power lock/power window panel on an Explorer that was just laying on the floor board. I flipped it over to see what it looked like and found that the power lock switch was hooked to a white square block with several prongs sticking out of it. I went ahead and purchased it, for $3.00, and brought it home, but do not want to try to switch my non-working power lock button with this one until I'm sure that's what the problem is. It looks like the power lock switch is a permanent part of this block with prongs (maybe it comes apart, I dunno). Could it be as simple as taking out my old one and putting in the new one, or is it more serious then that? I'm not really sure if it's an electrical thing, or a moving part thing (maybe springs) that's not working.

Same problem on my 95. The drivers side "unlock" just gave up. I replaced the physical switch. The unlock switch will remove from the switch/circuit board.

It's been a while but I think it pryed off but watch for backing screws.
