Hey guys I borrowed a snap on timing light from my uncle and it's a mt241a. Anyways, my question is it has a dial on the back for timing advance, but how do I use it? I'm used to the simple ones where you just point and turn the distributer.
You take and set that dial to your desired timing and when you shine the light at the timing pointer it will show ZERO degrees when the timing is at the setting you dialed in. So if you want 12 degrees advance, set the dial to 12 degrees then turn the distributor til the timing pointer shows zero.
You can also just set the dial to zero to start with and use it as a simple timing light like you're used to. It's just a nice feature to have if for instance your balancer doesn't have a mark at exactly 12 degrees or whatever.
