I was browsing a Jegs catalog I got in the mail and noticed they have these chrome diff covers for like $26.00 but it says for the rear only. I was thinking of changing my gear oil anyways once it got warm outside but I didn't see anything about a cover for the front. I haven't really looked at the front but is it the same as the rear as far as the cover goes? Also is the front as easy to change as the rear (simply take out the bolts around it)? Last question but mine is 8.8" right?
8.8" axle is built by Ford. The front is likely built by Dana Spicer and would probably be their model 44. The covers are no way alike, other than being bolted on and sealed by a gasket or RTV Silicone Rubber. impish

Like he said^^
8.8 rear and the front is the TTB dana 44
The TTB Dana 44 does NOT use a cover. The 3rd member, center chunk, pumpkin, etc, bolts to the drivers side axle housing. So no, no cover for the TTB Dana 44
Got it. I did notice when changing my oil there was a lot going on down there in the front. So how would I change the fluid in the transfer case, pumpkin etc and what in the heck is a 3rd member? This is my first 4x4 truck if u cant tell lol. Im sure I can google it and figure it out but any help is appreciated
To change the fluid in the transfer case, you just let the fluid drain out via the drain plug. Refill it via the fill plug. Add fluid until it starts overflowing from the fill hole (make sure truck is on level ground).
To get the old oil out of the front axle, you either have to pump the fluid out via the fill hole, or you can disassemble the front end and remove the differential from the axle beam and let it drain out that way (not recommended), or you can do what I did, and install a drain plug.
