engine compartment paint question
I'm replacing my engine on my 74 bronco and wanted to paint the engine compartment and frame rails just to make it look better. I've talked to several ppl and everyones got a different opinion. I don't need it to look like a fully restored vehicle ready for the mecum auction but just something black semi-gloss, durable, and keeps rust at bay. What you guys used?

There are some really good rattle can paints for this......welding shops carry the better stuff or you can also do what I did....I went to a local auto paint supplier, they mixed up what I wanted out of a standard formula with a hardner added.......although I used a spray gun, they can also mix this up in a rattle can for you as well.

The easiest material to apply without spraying would be something like POR-15. Apart from all surfaces being very clean, done with their materials and instructions there's almost no real experienced required except (carefully) slinging a paint brush or roller.
Good stuff: POR-15 APPLICATION

I've tried por15 before and wasn't completely happy with the results. I noticed they replaced the "chassis coat black" with a "top coater". There's a dealer here so I'm going to give them a call and see what they say and if they recommend anything else. My local Napa store really don't offer much advice. thanks
