$3500 is a rip off for new injectors! First you need to have it tested, you may only need one, or maybe it's something else. Then you need to shop around. It's amazing how much the dealer and some other mechanics will RAPE you on this motor.
Your stock injectors can be rebuilt for about $100 each. My mechanic only charges $300 for labor to replace all 8, and he does a good job. That's $1100. I've had quotes in my area as high as $2000 just for labor, I laughed and hung up the phone. I'm not paying their rent.
Where are you finding injectors for 100 dollars a piece? I would not use anything but oem remans, they are closer to 205 a piece. Alliant power are about the same cost.

I agree - remanned does not mean the same thing to every rebuilder. There have been some disappointing failures from some of the more commonly used rebuilders.
I don't think I would even use Alliant - they are not the ones rebuilding for Ford (contrary to what seems to be said on the Forums). I know that Ford uses RMP for the injector rebuilds, but probably has deals with 2-3 shops.
well at $205/ ea, and the quote of $3500 for 8, OP will not be getting OEM's. no one is gonna do the labor that cheap.
FWIW, the Ford parts carry a 2 year warranty as well.( purchased from a dealer)
"These are complicated modern motors, EGR valvle, sensor values could all cause parts of your symptoms. Spend the money on a proper diagnosis or you will be chasing your tail with your wallet open....."

Cheap? You must work at a dealer. Even $205 each is $1640. Changing injectors is NOT an $1860 job. Like I said, my mechanic will do all 8 for $300 labor, and he is a very good mechanic.
I called a Ford dealership and a remaned injector is $264.29. I was told that spool valve cleaning is not offered or this is not serviceable. I was told that replacing all 8 injectors (which includes the spool valves) is the "sure" way to correct the problem because if one or a few injectors begin to go then the other ones will go bad soon. Then all injectors should be replaced while everything is opened up. I wonder if it's quite involved to get to the fuel injectors.
That's your first problem. Please don't use them for ANYTHING relating to your injectors. Unless you enjoy getting raped and throwing money in the toilet. On top of that, advice and mechanics at a Ford dealer relating to the 6.0 are usually BAD. The 6.0 isn't a Ford motor, and they don't understand it.
F357, I have no plan to take my truck to the dealer. I just wanted to know how much they charge : ). I do appreciate all the advices here.
Looks to me like replacing the injectors is not a DIY job. It's not like replacing the water pump, which I just did on a another vehicle. But I am still thinking : ).
It can be a do it yourself job, it just takes a lot of time. Most everything on top of the engine has to come off. As far as I know there are no special tools or knowledge required, but I've never tried it myself. Definitely easier if it's not your only vehicle.
Injectors are not too bad of job. Biggest thing Imo is to have the correct length torq bit to install and remove the injectors, t 40 I believe and a torque wrench that will set to 28 ft lbs for injector hold down bolts. Make sure you lube to orings going in and make sure the old copper comes out with the old. 6 hrs for a shade tree mechanic should be enough time to swap them out.
