Anyone know what this relay controls?
Truck is an 83 F350 6.9L.
Located on the driver side fender under the hood hinge just above the fuel/water separator.
See the stud just below the hood hinge, I think that it Hot Power via a red wire feed off from a fusible link on the starter solenoid, also part of the towing package.

Yes, that is the towing relay. IIRC it even says Towing Relay on the top of it. Or at least mine did.
It also serves as a spare fuel pump relay in a pinch on EFI models...lol
Look at the little charmer, it has an ID number printed on it...post what it is.
The ID number may be similar to this: E3TB-9345-AA
The printed number is long gone but I was able to use a loupe to look closely and I could make out where the paint had protected the plastic from oxidation and found E1VB-14512 AA. I searched the PN and it looks like you guys were right, Towing relay.
What was it's purpose just feeding power to the trailer?
If it doesn't do anything but feed power to the trailer then I can just get rid of it and it shouldn't cause any ill effects, I moved it over to make room for some circuit breakers and relays I'm adding and tried to straiten it out a touch and the case snapped, old plastic. The truck has a lift gate which kinda makes putting a hitch on it tough.
