Trying to install a tach. Power, ground, and illumination wires are all solidly connected. Tach lights up but i tried both wires going to the coil connector and neither make the needle move. I dont understand what is wrong. Its a brand new bosch tach. I hooked white to parking light, black to ground, red to fused battery +, then green into both wires going to the coil. Started with the green looking wire on the left if you were looking that the coil from drivers fender. No needle movement. Tried right wire that had yellow on it, nothing. I tried stuffing the wire into the same hole the coil wires are going into with the coil connector and nothing. I even tried the 4-6-8 cyl switch in all 3 positions.
I reused a inline fuse holder that i had used on a set of lights. It worked when i took it out, but somehow the fuse blew or the filament broke.
Havent driven it yet, im wondering if its right. It shows idle at 1100, which i new it was high, but ive unscrewed the idle out to where it doesnt lower anymore and its still 1100. When i turn the truck off it goes to about 100 on the tach.
I mainly got it for interstate. If i push 60 or so with the granny it sounds wound out. I revved it today to about the same sound and was only reading 2200. But in all its kinda nice.
