Tach Installation - Coil Ground?

Tach Installation - Coil Ground?
Alright, Im trying to install an aftermarket tach. I did a search of the forum and got 100 different threads saying "connect the green wire to the negative side of the coil". What is this though? My coil has 3 different wires. Which one is negative?

on my 86 it had a horseshoe type connector like franklin 2 said, it was a green wire. there was 2 other wires in a connector together, the negative was all by its self out in front. I popped the connector off. i then wrapped the frayed end of the tach wire around the negative on the coil, i popped the negative connector back over the wire. it works fine.
