My 1999 superduty has the manual lever on the floor for the transfercase,it is very hard to get it into 4 low,on the lever **** there is a diagram ,looks like the lever must be moved to the left to engauge 4 low,is this correct or do you just pull the lever straight back into 4 low?even in neutral the lever is is very hard to move into 4 low
you stop, put the trans in neutral and then pull the lever based upon the diagram.
Sometimes you need to back up a foot or so and then neutral and try again.
Same with taking it out. Most all work that way and are a little hard.
Pull straight back, not sure why the "offset" on the shift pattern. Mine will go into 4 LO quite easy, push clutch in and pull lever back. I find coming OUT of 4 LO takes some more effort, usually then a little rolling slow or at least jogging the driveline.
My 4wd stick moves quite easy, put it into 4 LO on the fly one time by accident, pulling loaded trailer, went from pavement to muddy yard, pulled stick too hard and went right to N from 2H, I was in 3rd(2 on stick), double clutched rev matched and it dropped right into 4LO on the fly. I don't recommend that but I didn't really want to start that load from a dead stop in mud...
