My mom has an 04 F150 that is stuck in 4low, I'm not sure how serious of a problem this is and if there is an easy fix to it, i live about 4 hours away from her so i havent been able to take a look at it myself and i dont really have a background with F150's so i was hoping somebody might be able to send me in the right direction
Explain to us more...what do you mean by "stuck" in 4LO? Is it manual or electric shift t-case? If it's manual shift T-case, try rolling while pushing the lever back up into 4 hi. also the transmission has to be in neutral.
Welcome to FTE Mike. Silly question... but does she know the proper procedure for getting the truck out of 4 lo? She needs to be in neutral, with her foot on the break. She should then be able to shift out of it.
Hauganater, mine (2004) did the same thing the other day. I think it had to do with the temp. at the time, but it came out after about a minute or so. Mine would not go back into 2wd unless I shifted into 4hi first (Trans. in neutral)and then backed up and went forward a couple times in a straight line. I then put the trans. back in neutral and shifted into 2wd and it worked. Make sure her wheels are pointed straight though, it will disengage quicker and put less stress on the system. And as the others have pointed out, trans. in neutral and foot on the brake. If that does not work it might be time to call the dealer, if it is still under warranty.
It is an electric shift t-case, i'm not sure on the exact details on how it got stuck but i assume it is just that she does not know the proper way to get it out of 4 low, thanks for all the input
