tcase wont shift

tcase wont shift
my truck is a 1996 f150 5.0 4r70w
my 4x4 shifter is manual, it will only shift from 2hi to 4hi
i cant get it into or past netural or 4lo
by buddy says its probaby a fork? 40$ part but all day project...
any ideas what the problem is?

yeah my trans is in neutral, i just cant get the tcase in neutral.
i tried doing it in neutral while slowly rolling also.. no luck
i used to have to kinda push the tcase handle straight down to get it to shift to netural but now no go..

Then the linkage is probably rusty. Hit it with some penetrating oil a couple times a day for a few days and see if you can free it up. Once it works well, keep it lubricated with white lithium spray grease and it shouldn't give you any problems.
