Cooling system replacement

OK, I have on order a new oen oil cooler, a IPR egr gen3 delete, an updated HPOP screen, an updated STC fitting, new up pipe, new turbo oil drain line, fumoto valves, IPR full flow coolant filter. Truck was diagnosed with bad egr and plugged oil cooler last week. Tech broke nipple on radiator, so I have a brand new one. Pretty much new cooling system top to bottom when I am done, but I have some questions. If I do a chemical flush, how long should I wait to dig in and replace hard parts? Can I do chemical flush, then run garden hose into degas bottle and rev engine with all plugs open, and would that evacuate everything? How do I, and should I, back flush heater core? Has anyone failed an oil cooler after installing coolant filter and switching to ELC coolant? Thanks

Doing the chemical cleaning before deleting the EGR cooler and replacing the Oil Cooler is the way to go. Commonly, changing to ELC at that point is the way to go. But you need to be sure to rinse out with tonnes of changes of deionized pure water so when you add the 100% ELC, you have no leftovers of the old Ford Gold. To get a good rinsing out you need to pull the block plugs and changing to Fumoto valves, and removing the thermostat is the most efficient in doing that. Make sure it's an OEMO oil cooler, and so on and so on. Seems like a good plan to me, other regulars will also chime in so you should get some good imp put.

Definately flush before the work. I like using a garden hose to get ALL the chemicals out, revving it a little with the block drain plugs out, then refill with distilled water, warm-up, drain and refill with distilled a second time, warm up, drain, do repairs.

Using a T from a flushing kit on the heater core supply hose (with a garden hose) will run water backwards through the system if I'm reading the coolant schematic right.

There's many different opinions on all this, I just try to be thorough and not take all day.

Sr. Master Tech has a couple of videos (part 1&2) on YouTube that I liked. I just added the distilled at the end- he leaves the tap water in it, and the T fitting to get the reverse flow and push a little more water through the heater core with the hose.
