Thanks for posting this. I'm actually shopping for a chip now. I'm trying to decide between TS and DP. I like that TS comes preloaded, but I have not seen a tune specifically for towing. What pushed you to TS?
If you don't want to fill all 6 positions on the TS style chip you can have less. All you have to do is adjust the limiter spacer behind the switch so it only turns to positions that have tunes on it. Very simple to do.
You might consider the Hydra though. It has been out for a couple of years and is a great platform. The benefits of the Hydra Over the TS chip are:
1. you can load tunes/programs from any tuner (on average they charge $30 for an individual tune)
2. a tuner can e-mail you the tunes - much quicker than sending the chip back & forth in the mail.
3. Many tuners offer a full library of tunes for stock injectors when you purchase the Hydra.
4. The Hydra with access to a full library (17 tunes) will cost the same as the chip.
Haha sorry we had our baby shower yesterday so i was to busy to come on and post,
Chip took way to long to install because i was being a ****. didnt really take long to get it figured out i just didnt clean the ECM good enough first time second time i didnt screw the ECM plug in and thought i could push it on to try and start it long story short screw the plug into the ECM but
I love this chip ive gotten addicted to the 140+ setting puffs a little smoke and the speed increase and responsiveness is just unreal i love the higher idle setting for the mornings and warming up faster. for those who wonder where i put the **** heres a photo
i could not get a ts chip to work on my 01 i called them and sent it back to be checked out and still no start with the chip i unplugged it and and truck started fine.never resolved the issue just sent the chip back has anyone herd of this?
Only reason i can think it wouldnt work with the Chip on is because of not being cleaned enough. I had to clean the hell out of mine took a knife on each connecter then i had to use the scotch pad a few times to clean it
i dont have a pic handy but i think mine needs to be retinned it looked more copper to me not like tuglys pic
If you have copper showing then there is a good chance that that is the problem. It was the same way with the one I did years ago. The truck would start some of the time. You could even drive it some during those times but if you hit a bump the engine would shut down...game over.
I re-tinned the contacts on the PCM....problem solved..
