won't kick down ??
i have a 93 f150 5L AOD.... she just won't kick down and in my year i was told it should still be mechanical. any ideas .....
and i am hoping to bring the truck up on a hoist to check my kick down adjustment and hopefully she's just not been adjusted properly.
thnx cheers

There an adjustment for pressure but it is critical to be very close to factory setting. A small adjustment can be made but tends to effect upshift not downshifting. Still a good idea check it.

The AOD shift kit vastly improves shift firmness but it won't fix a pre existing problem. Are you sure your truck has the all mechanical AOD? What is the trans code on the drivers door pillar?
P.S. If you're used to droving one of the electronically controlled transmissions where even a slight blip of the throttle produces a downshift then you have some getting used to with the AOD, downshifting from OD takes a large throttle input and what may seem like an eternity.. it really doesn't want to do it and I think they were deliberately configured this way. The upside of this is it can be driven more like a manual truck and you will find you can actually load the engine and produce acceleration or climb a grade without a downshift.. assuming the truck has enough engine torque output and favorable axle gearing of course. This allows trucks with this trans to return some truely remarkable hwy fuel milage.
