extreme noob question

Call me dumb, but after I turn or break, the transmission slips. I just noticed it on my way home from work. So I'll try to look into it more tomorrow. Could it just be low on fluid? That is my first guess. Or could it be the kick down rod hanging up? Anyone else have this problem? I have a 79 f250 2wd with a c6

Could definitely be low fluid.
Won't be the kickdown linkage. On a C6 you do away with it entirely and it won't affect the transmission, all you'll lose is the kickdown to second gear.

I had read somewhere that with the rod attached the kick down lever sometimes sticks. I'll crawl under it tomorrow and see if I can't figure it out. I don't have work tomorrow so I get put some work into my truck

I agree with it being low or burnt fluid.. It doesn't sound like a linkage problem because that is actuated by mashing the accelerator, not slowing down

Turns out it was just low fluid. I believe the culprit of the leak is the rear seal right before the drive shaft. Is that an easy fix?

Tailshaft seal is pretty easy to replace! Remove the driveshaft, pry-out the old seal, tap in the new one!

When you replace the tailshaft seal be sure to carefully inspect the drive shaft yoke. If worn it doesn't cost that much to replace it. If worn and not replaced expect your leak to return very soon.
