I was fortunate to pick up a new set of black painted jailbars from a seller on Ebay. I had previously thought only chrome reproductions were being made and they not only look incorrect but cost almost 500 bucks. I bought these painted ones which are very obviously brand new for 150.00 on the buy it now button. They could be lighter gauge steel. Not sure if more are available. The seller was called 'calicocatsforme' . Now I'd like to know without a lot of surfing if reproduction mounting tabs/bolts are available. I have made a few in the past with 10-24 bolts and steel strap, but now I'll need a whole set. I primered them last night and will paint them with some flattened cream colored paint to match the hood latch. Hey, has anyone figured out why we are only posting thumbnails? New economy?
auveco make the universal trim clip, the kind where you snap off the pieces to get the desired size.
No idea where they are made? I remember way back the chrome owes were made in S. America, I believe, and left a lot to be desired. The ends of them were usually a little funky and did not have the same shape as originals.
They are perfect and brand new. Maybe still a bit funky on ends. Other than the 3 centers and the special end ones, are the rest interchangeable top to bottom, side to side? Mine seem to be.
seems like a good deal ,do you think the guy can get more! i don,t care for chrome ones. was hoping to find a couple secondhand ones. but this could be interesting. or maybe now that you have new ones ! you could sell your good old ones.
The ones on my 1/2 ton are really smashed and the panel...Hard to tell from the one picture I have. I guess I have to wait til it gets here. I have found with my limited sheet metal skills... Hard to fix.
I did a bit of paint matching in anticipation. Ace brand flat white brush enamel mixed with new caterpillar yellow spray paint, brushed on for some kind of faded paint look. The hood badge/latched is an untouched original. It will never compare to fordgal's beautiful restoration which is just plain stunning, but is doable for me in my shop after work and on weekends.
