Chromeing

well, i got me some new wheels for the truck, off a 93 F-150, theyre the five spoked type that came standard. only thing i dont like about em is that theyre not chrome, theyve been painted silver by the previous owner, and look good, but i really enjoy the chrome look. problem is, i cant afford a real chrome job, but was wondering, provideing it was sealed right, if chrome spray paint would do the job? i know that it can sometimes be a PITA to get it to stay on, but theyre not going for a few weeks, so i have plenty of time to get them looking decent. Should i even try, or just wait till i have the cash to get it properly done? Thanks in advance!!

I don't know how well the paint will work so I'm not going to comment on that. However, as cheap as some chrome steel wheels are, you might be better off looking to buy a new set of chrome spokes than paying to have the old ones chromed.

If you prep the wheels real good you can get a decent look with chrome spray paint. What have you go to lose, a little time and a few bucks on paint? Even if you don't like how it comes out you can still bring 'em somewhere afterward to get professionally refinished, with no harm done.
