If you like a chrome look, take the new emblems and rub them with acetone before you put them on the truck. It will take the black paint off so you'll have a chrome F-250 on a chrome background instead of a black background. I did it on my superduty and it looks awsome. Depends on your taste though.
I didn't take them off. I just taped around them with a couple layers of masking tape. Then taped plastic bag under them in case any acetone ran down past the tape. You can search the topic of acetoned badges and several examples will come up, especially in the superduty/heavy duty section of this forum. It's alot more time consuming to take them off because then you have to remove the old adhesive as well. The local dealer should have new ones if you want to buy them and acetone them before you put them on the truck. That would actually be the easiest way to do it since you could just soak them for an hour and then wipe them with a rag.
