I got that speed sensor on now but didn't fix my problem. I didn't know you had to take the orange plastic piece w/ threads off the old one and use on the new one. But anyway my problem is I think its shifting in and out of overdrive. Is there a solenoid on trans also? I'm a girl new to this forum and new to working on stuff but have a little sense.
there's four in it or on it? And idk what trans I have. Is it E40D? And the TPS please tell me it isn't on the pedal? The same girl that gave me the wrong vss says the tps is mounted on the pedal. Doesn't seem right to me. I just need my truck to be fixed and I will be doing my best. My husband works alot now. Dark to dark you know. The yr on my truck is 1990, buy parts range from 1983-1990.
You have an E4OD. There are four solenoids, all four are inside the pan. There are no solenoids on the outside of the transmission. There are two sensors on the outside, the VSS and the MLPS (Manual Lever Position Sensor.)
The TPS isn't on the pedal. That started with the Powerstroke in 1994.5. The TPS (on a diesel it's called FIPL - Fuel Injection Pump Lever sensor, but it's the same part) is on the injection pump on the engine.
If I had some idea of what your truck is doing I might be able to offer some help. Just telling me it's worse doesn't help at all.
